Canoa Grande’s mission:

• Reduce violence locally by providing a supportive environment for youth in Igarassu
• Create free programming in capoeira, theater, and languages
• provide opportunities for creative and pedagogical exchange with international capoeiristas, artists, and educators

Canoa Grande’s goals:

• identify interested institutions and individuals for international arts exchange
• develop “alternative vacation” programs with an emphasis on social and cultural issues
• work in partnership with the community on environmental and social issues
• create internships and college credit earning opportunities
